The short answer.
A UTM builder adds tracking parameters (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, plus optional utm_term and utm_content) to any URL, so Google Analytics 4 can attribute visits and sales to the exact campaign. Enter your URL and values, then copy the tagged link. Use lowercase and the presets for consistent reports.
The five UTM parameters
utm_source is where the traffic comes from (instagram, google, whatsapp). utm_medium is the channel type (social, cpc, email, broadcast). utm_campaign is the promotion name (diwali_sale_2026). utm_content tells creatives or links apart, and utm_term is for paid keywords. GA4 reads these automatically.
Rules that keep reports clean
Always use lowercase, use underscores or hyphens (never spaces), and agree a naming list with your team. “Instagram”, “instagram” and “IG” become three different sources in GA4. The presets here follow a sane convention you can adopt as-is.
